Legacy: Combo strategies warp format significantly
Analysis from July 10, 2025

Legacy feels solid, though we're seeing some shifts. The format's healthy, but you can't ignore how much combo is warping things right now.

Our Final Health Index sits at a respectable 73.1. Metagame Diversity is okay at 67.8, and the Archetype Distribution is strong at 90.1. Event Growth is also great at 85.7, but Player Growth is lagging at 57.4, particularly in paper events. The B&R Health Score is a solid 75.0, implying the recent changes were on the right track.

Right now, you need to respect Dragon Stompy and UR Aggro, both sitting at 5%. Dimir Tempo's also putting up numbers at 4%. Aggro's at 30% overall, while Control holds 17.4% of the meta. The big story? Combo's at a whopping 52.6%, up significantly from its historical 40%. This screams for adjustment.

Reddit is buzzing about 8-Cast. Players are focused on effective hate and sideboard tech to fight the artifact menace. Chalice of the Void strategies are getting lots of love, and you'll see people tweaking Delver builds to adapt. The bans of Troll of Khazad-dûm and Sowing Mycospawn should help, slowing down Reanimator and Eldrazi and ideally opening space for fair decks. Orcish Bowmasters continues to be debated; its ubiquity is a point of contention. Paper attendance is rising, which is good news.
