A snapshot of Legacy from September 23, 2025.
Legacy's holding steady, but there's definitely stuff brewing under the surface. Our Final Health Index is a solid 69.0. That suggests the format’s in decent shape, but far from perfect.
Looking at the individual scores, the Metagame Diversity Score is 71.6, showing reasonable variety. The Archetype Distribution Score is a strong 91.5, meaning the overall distribution of Aggro, Control, and Combo is healthy. However, the Event Growth Score is a worrisome 50.1, showing declining event participation, while Player Growth Score is a strong 89.0. Something isn't adding up with more players but fewer events. The B&R Health Score sits at 65.0, suggesting some room for improvement in that area.
The Top 10 is led by Dragon Stompy at 7%, followed by Dimir Tempo at 6%, Eldrazi Aggro and UR Aggro tied at 5% each. Death & Taxes is holding at 4%. Maverick, Artifacts Blue, Burn, Weenie White and Goblins are also putting up results. The super-archetype breakdown shows Combo holding a significant chunk of the metagame at 48.8%, with Aggro at 37.3% and Control lagging at 13.9%.
Reddit's buzzing about control decks and finding the right card advantage. The resurgence of Painter decks, with the Painter's Servant and Grindstone combo, is also generating some excitement. Orcish Bowmasters continues to be a point of contention. No card changes were announced in the latest B&R update, showing a cautious approach. All in all, Legacy seems stable but keep an eye on those Initiative cards.
