A snapshot of Modern from July 2, 2025.
Modern's looking pretty healthy this week with a score of 79.1. The big story is the continued rise of aggro decks, pushing the format towards faster, more aggressive strategies.
The format's Event Growth Score is a solid 93.5, meaning more players are slinging spells in Modern events. Player Growth is also up at 78.3, so the format's pulling in new blood. The Archetype Distribution sits high at 90.7, which is good, meaning there's still enough variety to keep things interesting.
Right now, it's all about aggro. Boros Aggro is the king of the hill, taking up almost 16% of the meta. Death and Taxes is also a major player at 11%. Watch out for 4/5c Aggro and the various flavors of UR and Mardu Aggro builds too. Aggro makes up over half the meta, with Control lagging behind its historical average.
The community is still buzzing about Rakdos Evoke and whether it's *too* good. Players are tweaking Yawgmoth decks to fight back against both Rakdos and the hate it brings. The banning of Underworld Breach looks to have opened things up, even if just a little. The 4-Color Omnath crowd is still kicking, trying to figure out the best way to tune their mana base and sideboards. The community is busy trying to keep up with the aggro onslaught.
