Modern: Aggro strategies heavily dominate metagame.
Analysis from November 4, 2025

Modern is proving resilient, clocking in with a very healthy 74.9 Final Health Index this week. The format is growing strong, but the metagame distribution is heavily skewed toward fast strategies. The central narrative is the incredible dominance of Aggro, which holds 57% of the super-archetype breakdown, significantly above the historical average of 43.9%.

Looking deeper into the numbers, while the Archetype Distribution Score is robust at 87.6, the Metagame Diversity Score sits lower at 70.3. This suggests that while there are many viable top strategies, a few decks are eating up the majority of the market share. Participation is through the roof, however. We saw massive Player Growth Scores of 93.8, fueled by a scorching 9.9% monthly growth in Paper attendance and a respectable 3.7% boost on MTGO. The event count remains stable, showing solid infrastructure supporting this rising player count.

Looking at the Top 10, one deck stands above all others: Death And Taxes, which claimed a massive 20.7% of the documented metagame. The rest of the top tier is aggressively rounded out by Affinity (9%), UR Aggro (8%), and Boros Aggro (8%). The focus remains heavily on proactive strategies, with nearly all listed decks—including the niche Eldrazi Aggro and Mono Black Aggro—confirming the Aggro super-archetype's overall command of the format.

Despite the strong health index, the community pulse remains "cautiously mixed," driven by the intense debate surrounding Rakdos Scam, which remains the most polarizing topic. Recent B&R stability, with zero card changes, confirms WotC’s belief that the format is self-correcting through player adaptation. We see this with Temur Rhinos, which is making refinements to better handle the current speed of the meta, often leveraging Force of Negation. A surprising development is Domain Zoo, which is finding significant success by incorporating Tishana's Tidebinder. This card is currently generating massive buzz for its utility as an answer to activated abilities on cards like The One Ring and Amulet Titan lands, showing that player innovation continues even under pressure from the current oppressive top tier.
