A snapshot of Pauper from July 2, 2025.
Pauper's looking pretty solid right now, though the aggro swarm is real. The unbannings feel like they might shake things up, but Mono-Blue Aggro is still the deck to beat. The bans definitely aimed to slow some decks down.
The format's got a healthy pulse, clocking in at 81.6 overall. We're seeing great event growth (87.3) and even better player growth (91.7), so people are definitely slinging commons. The Archetype Distribution Score is also high at 87.0. B&R Health score comes in at 80.0, which is a good sign that the recent changes are viewed positively. But, diversity is down from previous years, so it needs some work.
Right now, the Top 10 is dominated by aggro. Mono Blue Aggro is sitting at the top with 16.3%, followed by Rakdos Aggro and Jund, both at 9%. Red Deck Wins is showing up, Affinity, Elves, Burn, and Weenie White have their usual spots. Watch out for Aura Aggro, too. Aggro takes up 72.3% of the meta, which is way up from the 5-year average, indicating a fast format right now. Control is down, and combo is seeing a little bit of a boost.
Reddit's been buzzing about the prevalence of Tolarian Terror strategies. Players are testing out different builds trying to beat the blue menace, and dissecting the effectiveness of Preordain and Brainstorm. The community is actively exploring new strategies to challenge the established order. With the unbanning of High Tide and Prophetic Prism, we might see some interesting developments on the combo front.
