Pauper: Format healthy; Aggro strategies dominate
Analysis from July 10, 2025

Pauper is looking pretty solid right now, even with the recent shakeups. The format feels active, and players are definitely brewing in response to the changes. It's not perfectly balanced, but things are moving in a healthier direction after the B&R update.

Looking at the numbers, the overall Health Index is a strong 81.4. Metagame Diversity is at 76.0, which is decent but could be better, while Archetype Distribution scores high at 86.7. Player and Event Growth are also up (87.3 and 91.7 respectively), meaning more people are slinging commons, both online and in paper! These scores definitely indicate that the format is very healthy at the moment.

Right now, Mono Blue Aggro is the clear top dog at 17.2%. You've also got to respect Jund (9%), and classic Red Deck Wins/Burn both sitting at 7%. Rakdos Aggro and Weenie White round out the top contenders. It's definitely an Aggro-heavy meta, with 71.7% of the field playing that style, leaving Control and Combo in the dust.

The Reddit threads are buzzing about the recent bans and unbans, Basking Broodscale, Deadly Dispute and Kuldotha Rebirth are gone, hopefully slowing down some degenerate strategies, while the return of Prophetic Prism and High Tide could shake things up. Players are keeping a close eye on Dimir Terror and Mono-Red Aggro too, always trying to find new ways to beat the top decks.
