Pauper: Participation declining despite meta diversity
Analysis from September 9, 2025

Pauper's at a crossroads, with a Final Health Index of 64.0 suggesting a need for vigilance. The format's doing okay, but it could be better.

The numbers paint a mixed picture. Metagame Diversity is a solid 77.5, hinting at variety, and Archetype Distribution is even stronger at 88.8, meaning the decks are distributed evenly. But Event Growth is a dismal 20.7, and Player Growth, while better, is only 53.3. These metrics point to a concerning decline in overall format participation.

Mono Blue Aggro is the deck to beat at 14%, followed by a cluster of contenders: Red Deck Wins, Jund, Burn, and Affinity all tie at 7%. Rakdos Aggro is nipping at their heels with 6%. If you're hitting the tables, these are the decks you'll want to be prepared for.

Reddit is aflutter with talk about Mono-Red Aggro and its continued presence, however there is some speculation that high tide may need to be readdressed in a future banning. But the B&R announcement held off on action. The community is constantly re-evaluating card prices, so keep an eye on those staples.
